Back Country Campout and Ride May 8-15, 2010 ![]() Ever dreamed of taking a pack horse into the wilderness to explore but were afraid to try it on your own? Well fear no more -- we'll take care of you. True West and Southeast Pack Trips are co-sponsoring a back country packing campout and trail ride to some of the more remote and beautiful areas of Big South Fork. You will arrive at True West on Sunday and prepare to head out on the trail Monday morning. Experienced outfitters/trail guides will have the mules ready with all the necessities. They will lead you to the back country camp where you will stay for the next two nights. Good hot meals will be cooked for you in dutch ovens over a roaring fire. The two days you are in the back country will be spent exploring horse trails that are off the beaten path for most riders visiting Big South Fork. You'll pack up and ride another trail back to True West on Wednesday. You will be able to relax, shower, and have a nice dinner on the deck. (Maybe even a little musical entertainment.) Your ride fee includes staying at True West until Friday, so you can either use that day to relax before heading home, or try one of the many trails near camp. The ride fee of $375 per person includes one campsite and one stall for the three nights you stay at True West. Your trailer will stay parked in this site while you are gone. It also includes your outfitter and trail guide fees, as well as meals from Monday night through Wednesday night. This ride is limited to 16 people. Riders will need to bring clothes and toiletries to be packed in their own saddlebags, as well as a sleeping bag to be packed onto the mules. Sunday and Monday meals, except dinner on Monday are the responsibility of each rider. Monday lunch will need to be packed in your saddlebag as well. If you feed your horse grain, you'll need to bring small pouches of feed for each meal he'll have on the trail. Alfalfa cubes or pellets will be provided to feed while in the back country. If you would like to stay extra days at True West before or after the ride you will receive 10% off the normal rates for the extra days. Reservations are required. A $150.00 deposit is due at the time of booking. In order to receive a refund of your deposit, you must cancel no later than April 24, 2010. You will be required to sign a booking agreement that states you understand and agree with the cancellation policy and all requirements for the ride.
